Herniated Disc: What is the recommended treatment course?
Question:
Hi, I have a herniated disc and a hip that seems to be out of place. Any recommendation for treatment?
Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your question. You are not alone. A herniated disc in the low back is not all that unusual. In fact, it’s quite common. Most of the people reading this answer have some degree of disc herniation at some level in their spine. With this knowledge in mind, it is possible that your pains are not at all related to the herniation. You will need a health care professional devoted to working with orthopedic injuries to assess you and decide what is that causing pain and therefore what exactly to treat.

At this point, I would suggest working with your local Physiotherapist to determine the source of your pain and from there, they can help you decide what treatment course is best.
Most Physiotherapists will use a combination of hands-on treatment (manual therapy), modalities for symptom control, and a progressive exercise program that you can work with at home.
