How Do You Treat Chronic Back Pain After Having An Epidural?

Question: How Is Chronic Back Pain Treated After An Epidural?

Thanks for the question:  Exercise has been shown in the research to have positive outcomes for patients suffering with chronic low back pain, even an epidural.  I know that answer may seem a little vague, but with so many reasons why one may have chronic back pain, it’s tough to provide you with a specific answer.

If you haven’t already, consider a Physiotherapist to assist with your chronic back pain.  But be sure your Physiotherapist uses a combination of prescription exercise plus additional pain-control modalities, manual therapy techniques and of course education about your low back pain, so you know exactly what is causing it.

  1. I live in the Richland WA. Do you know of a physiotherapy in this area to refer me to? Is a physical therapist (which I am presently seeing…the same as a physiotherapy?

I just finished my 2nd epidural shot and it doesn’t seem to have helped much. I have 3 bulging discs L3, 4, 5, S1. Have low back pain and major muscle pain and spasms below my knee and calf area.

Got in suggestions? Been to orthopedics (4). Have osteoarthritis of the spine and hands and a lot of other joints.

    Thanks!
