Nancy Reagan, 87, and wife of the late President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, was hospitalized late last week after suffering a broken pelvis from a fall.

Mrs. Reagan has now started a physiotherapy care plan and has an expected recovery time of approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

Nancy Reagan’s injury brings to light a very important point about fall related, injury recovery. And that is, how crucial maintaining the right type of physical activity following a fall, similar to the one taken recently by former First Lady Nancy Regan, is to a full recovery.

The key to a full recovery is doing the “right kind” of physical activities that encourage proper healing, such as the types of physical activities a Registered Physiotherapist provides. These physiotherapy activities can include muscle strengthening exercises, improving range of motion, working on sit-to-stand positions, and gait training, with a goal of regaining full independence.
